Cosmic Parameter Estimation Combining Sub-degree Cmb Experiments with Cobe

چکیده
We describe the Bayesian-based signal-to-noise eigenmode method for cosmological parameter estimation, show how it can be used to optimally compress large CMB anisotropy data sets to manageable sizes, and apply it to the DMR 4-year, South Pole and Saskatchewan data, individually and in combination. A simple prior probability method is used to include large scale structure observations. Estimates of the Hubble parameter, vacuum energy density, baryon fraction and primordial spectral tilt derived from the combined

Statistical Significance of the Cobe Quadrupole Detection
The uncertainties of estimates of cosmic microwave background (CMB) heterogeneity using Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) data are extremely sensitive to assumptions about the CMB, especially where foreground sources dominate. At 4.5% statistical significance, the COBE least-squares estimate of the CMB quadrupole using data at galactic latitudes lbl > 200 is consistent with a model in which the...
متن کاملCosmic Microwave Background Anisotropy in models with Quintessence
We study the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies produced by cosinetype quintessence models. In our analysis, effects of the adiabatic and isocurvature fluctuations are both taken into account. For purely adiabatic fluctuations with scale invariant spectrum, we obtain a stringent constraint on the model parameters using the CMB data from COBE, BOOMERanG and MAXIMA. Furthermore, it is...

متن کاملCosmic Variance in CMB Anisotropies: From 1◦ to COBE
Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies that result from quantum fluctuations during inflation are explored and the impact of their “cosmic variance” on the ability to use existing data to probe inflationary models is studied. We calculate the rms temperature fluctuation, and its cosmic variance, for a number of experiments and for models with primordial power spectra which range from n ...
متن کاملGaussianity of Degree-Scale Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropy Observations
We present results from a first test of the Gaussianity of degree-scale cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy. We investigate Gaussianity of the CMB anisotropy by studying the topology of CMB anisotropy maps from the QMAP and Saskatoon experiments. We also study the QMASK map, a combination map of the QMAP and Saskatoon data. We measure the genus from noise-suppressed Wienerfiltered maps...
